The following are typical residential backflow preventers that we at Calgary Cross Connection Test commonly service and test for the City of Calgary:
This is a Calgary Cross Connection Device Test Report.
This is a typical exterior hose bib which should have a vacuum breaker style backflow preventer attached at the end of the faucet. This is not a testable backflow device and does not require an annual cross connection test in the City of Calgary.
BOILER CROSS CONNECTION TEST: Do you have a boiler system in your home? Boiler systems are used to provide radiant in-floor heating and domestic water requirements. This type of system supplies a mixture of water and glycol liquid to heat your floors, radiators, fan coil and domestic water. To keep adequate fluid in the system, a water fill system is installed. When this water feed is connected to your water supply, this creates a cross connection. To ensure that the contaminants in the boiler system do not come back into your drinking water, you require a cross connection test. In the city of Calgary, cross connection testing is required annually.
IRRIGATION CROSS CONNECTION TEST: Do you have an irrigation sprinkler system? Irrigation systems are piped in the ground supplying automatic water to your plants and grass. The pipes are laid in the ground and many times chemicals are used on our plants to help keep our yards looking lush and beautiful. These chemicals can go into the ground and back into your water system. This creates a cross connection. To ensure that the contaminants in your yard do not come back into your drinking water, you require a cross connection test. In the city of Calgary, cross connection tests for this type of device is required annually upon start up. Usually this occurs in the spring or early summer.
